So you may have noticed...
May 05, 20120 Comments
That some of these recent posts are a bit well, old.  I just realized that the Blogger App that I've been using on my phone hasn't always been posting what I thought it was.  So take some time and enjoy lots of pictures of snow and about our silly dog, Hapa.

She has so many different faces or attitudes as I like to call them that she should be an actor!

Starting my new life....
March 17, 20110 Comments
So things are finally starting to fall into place here.  For those of you who haven't heard I finally got a real job!  I start on Monday as an Office Manager in Breckenridge.  It can't get any better than that.  To check us out click on the link below.  We offer great lodging deals in one of the top rated ski towns in the US.

I spoke with the managers at the restaurant yesterday and it looks like I'll be staying on there too!  They said it was easier just to cut my shifts than to train someone new.  Plus most people that start there haven't lasted as long as I have anyway.  I'll hopefully be able to still get a few bartending shifts since I'm the only other person there that can do it.

Onto my third job, being the Office Manager for the rafting company.  This is an easy one since it's only for 2 hours a night during the week and only a few blocks away from Ski Colorado.  This will give Kumar the option to head home or we can work on business stuff and trust me there is plenty to do.

I've started a few sites for them, links are below, so please check them out too.  Posting will be slow for a few months until the rafting season starts up but we hope to get some great new pics/video this summer.

Here is the current website, check back since we are going thru a site redesign.  Hopefully the new one, designed by me, will be up and running in the next month.

OMG, I have a computer again
February 21, 20110 Comments
It doesn't need to be propped up on anything, it isn't making crazy noises and it's totally upgraded!  The best part is I have a bunch of mac programs I didn't have before but sadly the super drive didn't work so no DVD burner.  It works like a dream and I am happy to say that on Sunday I'll go thru my back up and pull what I need off of it, won't be too much, then when taxes are done I'll finally get our wedding stuff put to bed.

A computer rebuilt
February 18, 20110 Comments
So it looks like it was the motherboard after all. My computer now has had the disc drive replaced, the screen connection replaced, the ram upgraded, a new OS added to it and a new motherboard. Looks like I'll be getting it back tonight and its just like getting a new computer. The hard drive has been wiped so only essentials from the back up will be moved back over. Thank goodness the guy who fixed it had some of the stuff laying around so it was affordable.

Another Great Day
February 15, 20110 Comments
Pete and I hit up Breck today and after a few runs we stopped for lunch and he saw one of his clents. We hung with them and I got to meet Steven's friend who used to live blocks from us in Brooklyn. Its nice to have some NY in Colorado. I left them to ride some more, I had to get ready for work.

Computer Update
February 10, 20110 Comments
So Pete called the computer guy today to let him know if he had to wipe my drive everything was backed up. We were told, fingers crossed, when the CD drive is replaced my computer should be back to normal. If not it's the dreaded motherboard and its better just to get a refurb laptop instead of fixing it. With the new CD drive I'll be able to burn DVD's so I can finally put all the wedding stuff to bed. Only almost 3 yrs later, it's about time.

Boy what a day
January 17, 20110 Comments
So today I think I had the flu. I started feeling crappy last night at work and asked Tara to cover my shift. Thank goodness she's awesome and took it. I've been asleep most of the day and am finally feeling a little better. I still have a fever but I managed to make it out to the couch for a few hours. Now it's back to bed.

Early start today
January 11, 20110 Comments
So we got an early start at home today and I'm enjoying some down time watching Regis & Kelly. They mentioned that NY might be getting hit with yet another foot of snow. Hopefully it won't be as big of a mess as the last storm.

So much for planning anything
January 10, 20110 Comments
Turns out I have to work today. Of course why wouldn't I have more than 1 day off a week. I asked for thursday off for the parade and have to work at 3 every other day this week and again with no bartending shifts. Looks like it really might be time to move on.

Plan for tomorrow
January 09, 20110 Comments
Well, I know I've been slacking off about posting but work has been crazy and I've been beat so looks like Pete and I will be skiing tomorrow morning then coming home to deal with some business. I got a message from our old boss that he might have an office manager job for me. We'll talk details tomorrow and see how it goes. Hopefully I'll get a chance to cook us a nice dinner and make something in my stand mixer plus catch up on some more posts. We've had a crazy crowd in the restaurant the past few weeks and I have some funny stories to share. Until tomorrow.....

Cleaning House
January 02, 20110 Comments
So as you can see there were a lot of posts today.  I'm trying to clean up all the notes of stuff I've wanted to write about in the past year.  It's gonna take awhile but it's getting better.  At least it means that there will be a bunch of activity so check back!

Christmas Day Drama
December 25, 20100 Comments
So my Christmas started out good, I headed out to work for my first shift and I ended up making a decent amount of dinero, just look at my awesome spanish, for a lunch shift.  So I decided since I was probably going to be home late I'd make the drive home during my midday break.  This would have been easier if I left at 2:30 like scheduled but it just didn't work out that way.  I literally came in the house said 'Hi' to Pete and left.  He did manage to surprise me with the shirt I liked at Keystone.  Translated it means...Who is the most epic?  I am the most epic!

Here's the front

And the back

and a Nepalese bracelet from our friend Kumar, Who by the way would be my one and only choice to go rafting with.  The man has like 30 years experience!  It's a good thing since I think that's where Pete and I will be working this summer.  I usually get roped into trips.  This year I'm looking forward to being on the water more.
So I head back to work and as I'm about to make the turn off our little hill, where you can't stop if you're driving my car, a car packed full of people stop on the WRONG SIDE of the ROAD and give my dirty looks cause I almost hit them.  Yeah, you where stopped in the middle of the road pointed the wrong direction on the wrong side.  Really!!!???!!!

Then as I'm driving toward where the road is paved there is a guy in the middle of the street putting his hand out for me to stop.  You want to know why?  Well it was because his kid was sledding their driveway.  Really!!!???!!!  I almost stopped the car and got out to tell him what I thought.  I was on my way to work.  Maybe if you think your kid is that stupid, the driveway wasn't even steep enough to ride down, you should sled in the backyard!  They had plenty of other spots on the property that would have been much better suited.  They were probably to lazy to walk through powder.

Anyway, the rest of the day was fine until I was leaving work.  I was waiting at the light by the restaurant, which has been taking like 15 mins to change this week, when a guy in a old bronco or something flew by going at least 60.  It's 35 there and is for another 2 miles.  He had his flashers on so I guess he was trying to warn everyone of his stupidity.  I was expecting to see the cops chasing but no luck.

We did manage to give away one of the gifts we bought this year.  Andy was joking months ago that we all needed snuggies to lounge around the house in.  Well, that's what he got for Christmas.  And they are even multi-purpose, who knew you could wear them fishing!

And look people are even taking the snuggie and making it into redneck evening wear!

The Snow Got The Best Of Me....
November 16, 20100 Comments

(This is what I would have had to do to get to work today.  Too bad I don't have cross country skis yet)

And almost everyone else for that matter. I was getting ready to go to work when Sheila got home and told me not to even think about getting on the roads. I'll admit I was nervous when I had gone out earlier to brush off my car and there was almost a foot of snow on the road and no plows in sight. I called the restaurant and they said it was dead so I didn't have to come in. Pete ended up calling right after that and telling me I couldn't go anywhere. Him and Andy had been stuck on the Gondy and even with his 4-wheel drive he was having problems staying on the road. Sheila said that she's never had to drive in anything like this before. It was so bad, she was only 1 exit away when the storm hit, that she missed our exit off the highway and got off just before they closed everything down. I-70 was closed from here to Evergreen, 15 miles east from where we used to live and 45 miles, at least, from here. Crazy!

Snowing still...Pete headed to Breck today with Andy to hit the slopes.  I'm amazed how much snow has fallen so I grabbed a quick shot this morning and it's still going out there.

So after our first adventure we headed down to town to get Alex's pass and head up the Gondola.  The 4 person chair was packed so we opted for Chair 5 that took us to an Easy/Green Trail.  I know when I started snowboarding getting off the lift was the scariest thing that I had to do.  My mistake was that the 2 person chair we were on didn't detach and therefore didn't slow down for you to get off.  I tried to get a picture of the hill you ski down.  You start at that hut and thankfully from the storm there was a pile of powder to fall into when you get down that slope.

Alex grabbed a shot of us before we headed down for our first run.  I'm not sure why but every pic I've taken lately I look like crap.  I think I might have been talking when this was taken.

And here is Alex in Pete's helmet and Jacket.  We tried to improvise and it worked out.

We looked like twins in out denim snowboard pants.  She was doing so good, flying down the mountain with no fear but has decided that pads are a good idea.  And I'm glad we had a spare helmet cause I really don't think you realize how much you would slam your head with out it.  Until the next day that is when your neck is killing you.

Near Disaster - 10.15.10
November 16, 20100 Comments
So as usual Alex came over for Sunday dinner & wine and we planned, since I have Monday off this week, to hit up Breck for our first day of the 2010 season, so she spent the night.  It was a powder day since there is a storm moving thru and our road hadn't been plowed yet but we needed to get moving.

We headed up the little hill to the main road and I told Alex the story about this couple that I was laughing at the other day who couldn't get up the hill.  The trick is you can't stop at the top. Of course, me and my big mouth, there was traffic and I had to stop.  Not normal traffic, like 1 car, but a snow plow and 3 pick ups.  I had to back down and since I was lazy and didn't put my backseat down I didn't have the best view as I had to back down and try again.  I ended up in some powder and it pulled me toward the ditch.  Thank god the plow showed up 10 minutes later and Andy & Sheila were home to help.
We ended up tying a rope to the frame of my car and Andy's hitch on the 4 runner and after much inching around we found the perfect angle that wouldn't ruin the bumper and I was pulled to safety.  It's a good thing I stopped when I did cause I was inches from the ditch.  Like I said, snow tires are now essential.

So I'm trying to get a plan together on how I can stay consistent with my postings, so here's what I've come up with.  Once a week I'll do an overall update and that will take place on one of my days off.  Since I don't have to be to work until later in the day and it doesn't seem to bother Pete that I write while he's sleeping behind me there will be at least three more days during the week that I'll post misc. things.  Today will be the exception obviously.  I want to clear as much as I can out of my archives.

So I mentioned in yesterday's post that I am in dire need of snow tires.  We had a decent snow storm earlier this week and on my way to work I tried to tap my brakes to see how bad the road was and I went skating.  Luckily since I'm such a wuss in the snow still, remember I haven't driven in the snow for over 10 years, I was really far from the next car in front of me so nothing horrible happened.  Pete gave me a 4-wheel drive lesson too just in case I have to take his care to work some night.

Finally....Back online
November 12, 20100 Comments
 (Not my actual computer, lol)

After two months I think I have a system set up where I'm finally able to Blog again on a regular basis.  While my computer is still busted up (come on skiers, and your money, so I can get this fixed and some snow tires, more on that later) Pete figured out a way where if it's propped and doesn't move it will work like normal so here I am.

It took much longer with this move to get everything settled but I'm proud to say that the studio is almost ready, just a few more acoustic touches and it's ready to roll.  Our bedroom is set along with restyling our wardrobes to fit Colorado standards.  We could each use a few more pieces but all in good time.  I have a little "office" are set up since we don't have room for a desk and since this is the first time we've had a roommate I'm trying to take up as little room as possible.   The most important room to me anyway is the kitchen and as always it's taking time to figure out the best way to set it up but it's getting better.  It's good enough that I've even been doing some baking that I'll post later.  I figured that I would just post to let anyone out there know that I'm back and will be posting, not as much as before, but enough for you to tune back in.
