Edith Shain, the nurse featured in this 1945 iconic photograph, taken in Times Square celebrating V-J Day, passed away on June 22nd in LA at the age of 91. Her identity in the photo was not found out until the 70's when she contacted the photographer. So sad but what a legacy to leave behind.
