Ties made of Tape
May 07, 20100 Comments
This is one of the most innovative fashion ideas I've seen in a while, even though I don't promote ruining analog tape.  The real stuff of course, not the cassette tapes shown.

Alyce Santoro, the brilliant designer that came up with Sonic Fabric Neckties, also decided to use recycled tapes said to be filled with recordings from the streets of New York City, which is so awesome.  I also read that if you rub a tape head over them you can hear the faint sound of music.  I'll have to confirm with Pete if he thinks that's something that could really happen, but it's a cool idea none the less.

The Never ending Lost Finale
May 07, 20100 Comments
Once again they have extended the finale of Lost.  Like I've said a million times before, it better be to answer more questions.  We are currently 2 episodes behind and hopefully when Pete's done with his training later this week we'll be able to catch up.

Anyway, so it's now turned into a two night good-bye, the longest in TV history from what I've read.

A Star for Seinfeld

Poor Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  I imagine getting your star on Hollywood Blvd is a dream come true for most actors/actresses.  Her presentation didn't go as well as it should have.  I can't believe that no one checked the spelling of her name.

Fashion week moves to Lincoln Center!
May 06, 20100 Comments
I can't believe that the tents will no longer be in Bryant Park for Fashion Week.  It's nice to know that they will be moving to my absolutely favorite place in NY, Lincoln Center.  It's a shame I didn't go there as much as I could have, it's so far uptown, but ever since the first time Pete took me there I fell in love.

I'm not sure how I feel about the additional building, labeled Mercedes-Benz in the photo below, that they are erecting to house the shows.  The layout of that property feels so serene, and that's hard to find in the city.

28 Years Later - The Dark Crystal
May 05, 20100 Comments
One of my favorite movies as a kid, even though it scared the heck out of me sometimes, is getting it's sequel 28 years later.

It's been so long since I've seen the original I'm not sure where the story left off.  I mean really it came out in the 80's!  I wonder if they are re-doing it because the 80's fads are back in full force.

Here is the movie storyline according to reports:

Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, Power of the Dark Crystal follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet.
Apparently they will be using Muppets to stay true to the original movie.   But of course CGI  will also be used.  I mean what would a movie be now a days without effects.  Hopefully they won't slaughter it.

Grand Ole Opry under water
May 04, 20100 Comments
This is horrible!  I can't believe the flooding in Nashville and I think this is one of the most devastating out of all the historic places damaged.

When Pete was working in Nashville last year we drove by it on the way to the mall but never stopped in and we never headed over that way again before I left town.  I always wanted to see it in person.  Hopefully they can restore it.

Who Was A Chanel Model!?
May 03, 20100 Comments
Can you guess who this is?
it's none other than the Domestic Diva herself, Martha Stewart!  I was shocked to find out that Martha actually worked for Chanel during the time of Coco!  What an amazing thing to have done, even if it was only for one summer.

5.2.10
May 02, 20100 Comments
Today Pete had to head into Denver to have his pre-trip meeting.  He was planning on only being gone for 2 hours but it turned into a lot longer.  He was earning brownie points by helping his instructor, Laura, do the shopping for their three day trip.  After that since he was in Denver he hit John & Pam's to grab a card for the Apogee we're planning on selling, then to Mark's so he could grab the sleeves for his coat that he left in Mark's car last time they went skiing.

I posted the patchbay that we're trying to sell.  Hopefully it moves fast cause we could use the money until I find a gig.  Other than that nothing all that new going on here.

So the start of another month.  We're taking this weekend to make sure Pete has all his stuff together for his rafting trip.  It was bumped back since the weather this weekend wasn't all that great so he's leaving on Monday super early.

The Guidettes in the May Issue of Harper's Bazaar
May 01, 20100 Comments
The three girls that stayed on The Jersey Shore, sorry Angela, got glammed up for a spread in Harper's Bazaar.  Here they are getting an etiquette lesson from Tinsley Mortimer, a NY socialite.

And here they are looking 'serious'
